Blake Fell
Standing as the highest point of the Loweswater Fells, Blake Fell dominates the cluster of grassy, steep-sided uplands overlooking Loweswater. Often likened to the fingers of an outstretched hand radiating south-westwards from a central palm near Loweswater village, this fell asserts its dominance with a distinct, conical summit upthrust.
Holding a generous 164 metres of topographic prominence, Blake Fell easily qualifies as a Marilyn. With no higher land to the west interrupting the vista, views extend unrestricted towards the Solway Firth and the Irish Sea.
A nice shelter tops Blake Fell
The grassy, dome-like summit forms a convergence point for paths arriving along the surrounding ridges. It features a large stone shelter cairn providing shelter from the coastal winds, alongside broad perspectives eastwards sweeping from Binsey in the north down to Grike, with the North Western Fells standing out clearly across Crummock Water.
