Terrace Falls is the star of Terrace Falls Reserve. Consisting of a series of tiered cascades, the waterfall is as good as any in the Blue Mountains. You can bring your dog along for an adventure as well, as it's not part of the Blue Mountains National Park.

As an out-and-back hike, Terrace Falls is about 2.6 km return from the end of Terrace Falls Road, where there is room to park a handful of cars. However, be careful not to block any of the private driveways.

After passing a locked barrier, you will follow a fire trail for the first few hundred metres, as it twists and turns downhill. Eventually, you'll find an entry to the reserve, marked by a sign. The path here follows the creek, crossing a couple of times on its way to Victor Falls.

Terrace Falls Creek
The creek leads to a short, awkward scramble down a sandstone outcrop before descending to Victor Falls. The waterfall is best visited on a wet day or after a period of rain.

The trail continues along the creek before making its way to Terrace Falls. It's a little indistinct in places, especially where you have to cross the creek. When you emerge at the bottom of Terrace Falls they may look a little small, however, if you cross the creek towards the tall rock overhang you'll see how large the falls really are, falling over a series of terraces (hence the name). The whole setting of the waterfall is quite beautiful.

It's pretty clear how the falls got their name, thanks to the many tiers of the waterfall. Historically, it was one of the first scenic spots to be reached via a walking path built in the reserve in the 1890s. Several small, wooden bridges were constructed across the creek; however, they have all been lost over time, though the post holes remain in the rocks around the base of the falls.

From Terrace Falls, you can opt to continue along the creek, following it downstream. This forms the Terrace Falls Circuit, which is about 4–5 km in total and passes Little Terrace Falls, and Pyramid Falls. As it was very hot, we opted against the circuit on this occasion, instead climbing back to the Terrace Falls Fire Trail and retracing our route to the car.
