Evading some typical weather on the summit of White Side
What Wainwright said:

"Although White Side presents and intimidating wall of low crags to travellers on the road at Thirlspot its upper slopes are docile enough, being wholly of grass and easy gradients."

The summit of White Side is not actually marked as White Side on OS maps and, in fact, White Side refers the slopes to the west. Despite this, White Side is still a decent size at 863m in height.

As you can see from the photo above, the summit contains a substantial pile of rocks forming a rudimentary shelter, perfect for hiding from the elements for a quick bite to eat.
