What Wainwright said:

"Midway along the high-level traverse between Fairfield and Dove Crag is the rough top of Hart Crag, occupying a strategic position overlooking three valleys".

Hart Crag stands on the ridge running south-east between Fairfield and Dove Crag and is the meeting point of three ridges. Despite standing almost 2,700ft, it's connected to Fairfield by a fairly wide, flat ridge.

The summit has a covering of rock and turf and has very good views westwards towards the Scafells though Fairfield and Dove Crag obscure much of the views in other directions.
