Atkinson Pike
Atkinson Pike stands as one of the six distinct summits that make up the sprawling Blencathra massif. The main Hallsfell top throws out a high, sweeping ridge to the north, creating the distinct "saddle" shape that gave Blencathra its historical alternative name, Saddleback. Beyond a shallow dip, this ridge rises to form the rocky crown of Atkinson Pike.

Serving as a major topographical junction, this northern top is the focal point for the broad, connecting ridges that sweep outward toward Bannerdale Crags and Mungrisdale Common. The eastern edge of the saddle is abruptly bounded by steep, dramatic drop-offs, with Tarn Crag and Foule Crag forming the principal rocky faces that plunge toward the valley below.
