What Wainwright said:

"Midway along the high-level traverse between Fairfield and Dove Crag is the rough top of Hart Crag, occupying a strategic position overlooking three valleys".

Hart Crag stands on the ridge running south east between Fairfield and Dove Crag and is the meeting point of three ridges. Despite standing almost 2,700ft, it's connected to Fairfield by a fairly wide, flat ridge.

The summit has a covering of rock and turf and has very good views westwards towards the Scafells though Fairfield and Dove Crag obscure much of the views in other directions.
