Dodd (Buttermere)
Rising directly above Buttermere, Dodd forms the prominent terminal peak of Red Pike's north-eastern ridge. Of all the subsidiary ridges extending into the valley from the three main Buttermere Fells, this top alone possesses sufficient relative height to be classified as an official Nuttall peak in its own right.
The elevated, narrow ridge connecting Dodd to the parent mass of Red Pike is known locally as The Saddle, cradled neatly between Bleaberry Tarn in Burtness Comb to the east and the deep trench of Sourmilk Gill to the west.
Dodd's summit
The high point features a small stone cairn resting atop a rocky, grass-tufted knoll. From its perched position over the valley floor, the summit offers an intimate, bird's-eye perspective down onto Buttermere lake and across to the northern fells.
