Thrusting boldly out above Great Langdale, Loft Crag occupies a key position amongst the iconic Langdale Pikes, nestled directly between Harrison Stickle and the distinctive thimble of Pike o' Stickle.

The small, abrupt summit sits atop Gimmer Crag—a sheer, magnificent buttress of rock that stands as one of the most famous and historical rock-climbing venues in British mountaineering, pioneered in the 1880s.

The summit cairn

Because Loft Crag projects further southwards into Great Langdale than its neighbours, its summit cairn commands a spectacular, plunging vista straight down the valley floor. The close-up perspective across to Bowfell and the towering flank of Pike o' Stickle is particularly fine.
