Codale Head
Rising along the high-level plateau connecting High Raise to its eastern ridges, Codale Head forms a modest, high-altitude shoulder set immediately west of Sergeant Man. Possessing 15 metres of independent topographic drop, the top is classified as a Nuttall in its own right.
Positioned directly above the craggy basin containing Codale Tarn, the top marks the watershed where the high ground begins its drop towards the Easedale and Langdale catchments.
A fence post sits on the summit
The summit high point lies on broad, grassy ground along a boundary line, marked simply by a wooden fence post set amongst the stones. From this elevated perch in the heart of the District, broad perspectives open out across Easedale towards Grasmere and the Helvellyn range.
