Straddling the border between Northumberland and the Scottish Borders, The Cheviots are an extensive range of smooth, rolling granite and volcanic hills framing the northernmost edge of England. Defined by peat-covered plateaus, deep glens like the Harthope Valley, and ancient border pathways, this range offers an incredible sense of space and remote northern quietude.
The region contains 6 official 2,000ft Nuttall summits, crowned by The Cheviot (815m)—a massive, flat-topped extinct volcano—and the striking pyramid of Hedgehope Hill (714m). From the historic border ridge along the Pennine Way at Windy Gyle to the wild, heather-clad slopes of Cushat Law, the Cheviots deliver big skies and classic upland walking.
