Rising above Devon in South West England, Dartmoor is an ancient granite upland plateau defined by vast, open heathland, deep river valleys, and dramatic weathered rock outcrops known as tors. Famous for its wild solitude, Bronze Age archaeology, and mist-shrouded expanses, the northern high moor holds the highest land in England south of the Peak District.
The high plateau contains two official 2,000ft Nuttall summits, concentrated on the remote, trackless peat bogs of North Dartmoor. Crowned by High Willhays (621m)—the roof of southern England—and the imposing rock stack of Yes Tor (619m), Dartmoor offers rugged, atmospheric navigation across some of the wildest upland terrain in the country.
